One Room Challenge Week Two

pink for the bathroom

My ORC project is a complete renovation of a ranch house bathroom, and you can catch up here. This bathroom will be my daughter’s when she’s in town from college, and the guest bath when she’s not. So, we’re working to create a room that’s a bit less traditional than my comfort zone while still being traditional enough to work in our house and the yet to be decorated guest room. My daughter’s requested pink, and I’m excited about having a pink bathroom.

Hudson Valley Lighting brass wall sconces

She and I have been working together to choose lighting which wasn’t easy. You can see how many gorgeous options there are.

Hudson Valley Lighting Amherst Wall Sconce

After seeing this photo of the Amherst sconces from Hudson Valley Lighting on their website, the choice was easy. These work so well with everything we’re doing, and getting to see an image of them being used in a room was incredibly helpful.

The bathroom isn’t large, and all we need are two sconces and one ceiling fixture. With it being a ranch house, I wanted something with as little height as possible.

Here’s a place where I’m a little bit out of my comfort zone, but I kind of love it. My daughter knew immediately that she liked the Guthrie fixture best, and I thought it worked very well with the sconces. While I would have chosen a more traditional option by myself, I’m happy she’s pushing me a little. We’re so excited to see these installed in the space.

Guthrie, from Hudson Valley Lighting, is a 13” diameter flush mount ceiling fixture.

Below is what will impact this bathroom most. I’m going to share much more about this next week, but for now, I just have to say that I truly haven’t seen marble I like more than the new Bianco Puro Collection from The Tile Shop. It’s whiter and more consistent than any I’ve seen before, and is absolutely beautiful. I cannot wait to see it all installed. More on this next week.

Hansgrohe for the sink and shower.

I’m just realizing that I haven’t mentioned that we’re mixing metals. We looked and looked through books, magazines, Instagram, and Pinterest, and came to the conclusion that we liked the non-matchy look for this project. We have a Hansgrohe kitchen faucet and love it, so we definitely wanted to use the brand here. These are the elements we’ll use for the sink and the shower, and I’ll be filling you in on the details soon.

Mirror Image Home packaging

Just a little sneak peek of what arrived last week from Mirror Image Home. The mirror over the vanity sets such a tone, and this will be amazing. For now, I’m keeping it in its very safe and well packaged box : ).

Now, go see what everyone else is doing! So many fantastic projects, and I can’t wait to see how all these spaces evolve.
